YouTube grew up on home and mobile networks


During the first week of mandatory social lockdown in Peru, February 1st to 7th, 2021, the most used applications on Internet home networks were WhatsApp, Tik Tok, and YouTube, according to the Supervising Organism of Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel as in Spanish) analyzed.

 

The Internet users increased the demand of WhatsApp on their home connections in 19.7%, and Tik Tok in 19.52%, while the use of YouTube increased in 18.26%, compared to the consumption they had in the previous week to the social isolating ordered by the Peruvian Government (January 25th to 31st).

 

On the mobile networks, YouTube led the shortlist of bigger-increase-rate applications. According to the data analyzed by the regulator, the use of this social medium that allows hosting, webcasting, and sharing videos grew 28.71% compared to the previous week to the second mandatory social isolating (lockdown). Facebook and Instagram had a 26.03% increase, while the use of Tik Tok through the mobile networks raised 23.76%.
