SULLANA, Peru – Organized farmers at Paita Province northwestern seem to be uncomfortable about the      agricultural and oil corporations operating in the same territory. According to the Board of Chira’s Hidraulic Sector Users (JUSHCH as in Spanish), the pass of heavy vehicles and the existence of pipelines spoil the dams and drains allowing to evacuate water out of agricultural zones or relief Chira River in overload times.   In Amotapé District , the vehicles of sugarcane-grower companies Caña Brava and AgroChira might damaged dams managed by Chira-Piura Special Project (PECHP as in Spanish) and a canal in charge of JUSHCH. This last one’s president Angel Zapata requested to PECHP to nullify the circulation authorization through the so-called Canal Norté (Northern Canal) for both agricultural companies. The first month of the worst environmental disaster in Peruvian shores history – the most media-trendy, at least.     VENTANILLA, Peru – On Saturday, January 15 th , 2022, while the Pacific Ocean was in alert due to a tsunami caused by the blast and collapse of a volcano in Tonga Islands , Italy’s Mare Doricum petroleum ship downloaded Brazilian crude to La Pampilla Refinery , operated by spain’s Repsol corporation .   Around 17:10 PET (2310 GMT) , it was notified the downloading hoses broke. Initially, all seemed to be a 26.9-feet stain, or the equivalent to a 1.6-feet-side square, and 0.16 barrels, according to Repsol’s preliminary information. For January 23 rd , Peru’s environment Ministry estimated that 11,900 petroleum barrels spilled in the sea. The unlucky rice

Its growers complain of importation – it’s one of their many problems.   By Nelson Peñaherrera Castillo   PIURA CITY, Peru – At a chifa near Merino Square, our graphic producer and I have dinner. I order my favorite, pork and tamarind. Him, a chaufa , that is not more than grained rice and a put-on egg, spiced with soja sauce also known as sillao , [siyao] and it was added boiled little cubes of beef or chicken.   The chifa is one of the most celebrated culinary fusions of Peruvian gastronomy. It’s about the kitchen techniques mainly imported from Canton region, China, with the products brought by the Spaniards beginning 16 th century, and that got to adapt to the lands and climate of Peru.   This type of food is just a century old when Chinese inmigrants started it here, as they were recruited to work in slavery conditions mainly at reedbeds of Lambayequé and La Libertad.
