The so-called king of the desert doesn't expand all its majesty yet.  It is considered as the emblematic tree of Piura  Department's Coast -it normally doesn't grow over than 1650 feet altitude- and it is supposed the Spaniards found it here dominating the landscape when they arrived here in 1532.  The conquerors fastly related it to the European carob tree ( Ceratonia siliqua ), then assigned that name to the species that locals called tahko , according to a Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)'s research , although some archeologists asked by FACTORTIERRA doubt about that theory. the carob word, actually, has Arabic roots - alarrooba , coming from Persian alarroob what means donkey's jaw, curiously the animal that consumes it a lot and never stops to chew it here in Piura.  However, the word describes the European species, apparently not related genetically to South American one, the Prosopis pallida actually. FAO states Italian scientist  ...

Are there mining agents using the same methods for dismissing their debunkers?   by Liliana Alzamora Flores & Nelson Peñaherrera Castillo   SULLANA, Peru – An environmentalist leader denounces attempts against his environment and he doesn’t shut up despite the threats. He’s murdered and his killer leaves many clues to discover him, but by some reason –and there are documents proving it—his closest son in the fight ends becoming the top suspect of a criminal fact.   It’s the case of Arsecio Gonza Castillo but it’s also the same model of another happened in 2001 with the beloved Godofredo Garcia Baca . Was the same script followed up, or is there a criminal involvement for real on behalf of a justice that has been blocked?  Is it a vendetta?  But whose against whom?   Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011, four handmade miners were murdered near a minehole in Pueblo Nuevo de Santa Rosa Town, Suyo District , Ayabaca. It started to awake and the miner...

Come...

Since 1532, the history of Piura was not seen too shocked by a global impact event like the history of this town in San Lorenzo Valley.   TAMBOGRANDE, Peru – The most heart-breaking and baffling tale done about the history of this community is, no doubt, a Canadian Journalist’s who approached like a researcher and became one of the main keys for the world to understand the facts in its right perspective.   Coming next, we transcript the first minutes of the multi-awarded documentary Tambogrande – Mangos, Murder, Mining produced by Ernesto Cabellos and Stephanie Boyd, and what sets the causes of almost all the problems that led in social conflicts along the Peruvian territory.   If when you’re reading those lines, you can’t hold your emotion, just imagine what we felt who lived the whole story on live when we watched and listened to the Stephanie’s accented Spanish, something that was ever screamed out but that nobody dared to carry on until the end.   By Stephanie ...
