Cuando conocimos a Edelmira nos volvimos sus fanáticos y fuimos a buscarla a su establo. Error. Los pueblos de la margen izquierda del valle del Alto Chira quedan apenas a 20 minutos de la ciudad de Sullana , y parece un mundo aparte. Tan cerca y tan lejos. La población ostenta muy buenos televisores, equipos de sonido, congeladores; pero lo que difícilmente se podrá encontrar en una casa es agua potable, o, al menos, una letrina que garantice que los excrementos no estarán por cualquier parte.   Tan cerca y tan lejos. En medio de la modernidad de los muebles, la mayoría de los inmuebles siguen construyéndose en quincha y adobe… tan cerca, y tan lejos. The towns of Upper Chira Valley’s left bank stand just 20 minutes away Sullana City , and it seems a world aside. So near, so far. The people hold very god TV’s, sound systems, freezers, but what hardly could be found in a house is running water, or, at least, a latrine that guarantees the excrement won’t be anywhere.   So near, so far. Amid the modern furniture, the most houses continue building of pasted mud and mud bricks, so near… so far. The mud is the only one connecting the people of this part of Upper Chira to their ancestors.
