A rural school becomes trendy on Facebook

YAMANGO, Peru – The Educational Management Local Unit of Morropón’s representative school before the 10th Piura’s Congress of environmental Education is located at a rural town called Faical. It is about 20028’s that has launched a fanpage and a YouTube channel named Escuela verde, planeta verde (Green School, Green Planet), which look for promoting an environmental culture, as well as habits of healthy feeding and hygiene.

Thefanpage already adds more than 94K Likes while its YouTube channel is trying to summon the attention of its audience for having views, as FACTORTIERRA VERIFIED them. All is part of the Project Awaring new generations for caring the environment,  executed by the school’s principal Janet Pizarro Huamán, parents, an students. The project includes the management of a school orchard for improving the feeding of students, a decorative garden, cleaning campaigns, and implementation of spaces and containers for recycling. Also, handicrafts are made from recycled stuff.

The principal assures the project became the students more authonomic and passionate for discovering and researching. In the same way, she says the parents are the biggest support at school for developing it. “Our goal is the school to be a lighthouse for other people to contribute to the environment care through little actions,” she says.

She adds they are using the fanpage to estimulate other schools for launching and sharing similar projects. The 10th Congress of Environmental Education was held in Piura last October 4th, and the experience is scheduled to be shared in Colombia in 2020 representing the Peruvian Network of Researcher Teachers.
