The plan is providing, gradually along 2024, additional 65 million cubic meters to Poechos Reservoir, the largest of Peru.   LANCONÉS, Peru – Chira-Piura Special Project (PECHP by its initials in Spanish) plans to rise the operation height of Poechos Reservoir, the largest of Peru, until 105.5 meters (346.2 feet) altitude along 2024. In that sense, it will evaluate, based upon a filling plan, to take the decision for holding that height as the top operation level in the next years.   This Will allow Poechos to increase about 65 million cubic meters  (17 million gallons) of water not making an additional investment in infrastructure, built initially in 1972 and started in 1976, to store until 1 billion cubic meters. El procedimiento consiste en un aumento gradual de la cota a lo largo de 2024.   LANCONES, Piura – El Proyecto Especial Chira Piura (PECHP)  planea incrementar la cota  de operación del reservorio de Poechos, el más grande del Perú, hasta 105,5 metros de altitud a lo largo de 2024. Asimismo, evaluará bajo un plan de llenado el tomar la decisión de mantener esta cota como nivel máximo de operación en los siguientes años.   Esto permitirá que Poechos incremente unos 65 millones de metros cúbicos de agua sin realizar  inversión adicional en la infraestructura, inicialmente construida en 1972, e inaugurada en 1976, para almacenar hasta 1000 millones de metros cúbicos. According to the Board of Chira’s Hidraulic Sector Users (JUSHCH as in Spanish), the pass of heavy vehicles and the existence of pipelines spoil the dams and drains allowing to evacuate water out of agricultural zones or relief Chira River in overload times.   In Amotapé District , the vehicles of sugarcane-grower companies Caña Brava and AgroChira might damaged dams managed by Chira-Piura Special Project (PECHP as in Spanish) and a canal in charge of JUSHCH. SULLANA, Piura – Los agricultores organizados  en el noroeste de la provincia de Paita parecen estar incómodos con las corporaciones agrícolas y petroleras que operan en el mismo territorio. Según la Junta de Usuarios del Sector Hidráulico del Chira (JUSHCH), el paso de vehículos pesados y la existencia de tuberías estropea los diques y drenes que permiten evacuar agua de las zonas agrícolas o aliviar al río Chira en época de creciente.   En el distrito de Amotape , los vehículos de las empresas cañicultoras Caña Brava y AgroChira habrían dañado diques administrados por el Proyecto Especial Chira-Piura (PECHP) y un canal a cargo de la JUSHCH.
