VEINTISÉIS DE OCTUBRE, Piura –  A la altura del km 5.5 de la carretera Piura–Sullana , se ha erigido una torre de 26 metros que no solo desafía el cielo, sino que lo observa. Es el nuevo radar meteorológico del Senamhi , instalado en la sede del COER Piura .   Y aunque parece una esfera blanca montada sobre una estructura metálica, en realidad es un ojo climático que puede ver lo que tú no ves: tormentas eléctricas, lluvias intensas, vientos cruzados y nubosidad crítica… incluso antes de que lleguen.   🌎 ¿Qué puede ver este radar? El modelo instalado es el C250P , un radar Doppler de doble polarización en banda C, fabricado por Advanced Radar Company (EEUU). Su cobertura operativa se ha calibrado en 200 km a la redonda, lo que le permite vigilar: El norte: desde Sullana hasta la frontera con Ecuador , incluyendo Talara , Máncora y Tumbes .
